• Website has become slower on a VPS, was much fast on a shared host. What's wrong?

  My shared host suspended my website stating system overload, so I moved my website to a VPS which has 4GB RAM. But for some reason the website has become very slow.   I am trying to pass a PCI compliance test, and I'm getting a single "high risk vulnerability". The problem is described as: Information on the machine which a web server is located is sometimes included in the header of a web page. Under certain circumstances that information may include local information from behind a firewall or proxy server such as the local IP address. It looks like Nginx is responding with: Service: https Received: HTTP/1.1 302 Found Cache-Control: no-cache Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8 Location: http://ip-10-194-73-254/ Server: nginx/1.0.4 + Phusion Passenger 3.0.7 (mod_rails/mod_rack) Status: 302 X-Powered-By: Phusion Passenger (mod_rails/mod_rack) 3.0.7 X-Runtime: 0 Content-Length: 90 Connection: Close <html><body>You are being <a href="http://ip-10-194-73-254/">redirect ed</a>.</body></html> I'm no expert, so please correct me if I'm wrong: but from what I gathered, I think the problem is that the Location header is returning http://ip-10-194-73-254/, which is a private address, when it should be returning our domain name (which is ravn.com). So, I'm guessing I need to either hide or replace the Location header somehow? I'm a programmer and not a server admin so I have no idea what to do... Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also, might I add that we're running more than 1 server, so the configuration would need to be transferable to any server with any private address.

• Powershell Script Scheduled Task Stopped Running (Could not Start)

  I'm running a scheduled task (for Powershell Script) on Windows 2003 Server. I believe the script works fine. The task is scheduled to run every 10 minutes from 7:00am to 11:50pm everyday. However, it never gets to run more for than a day. It always stops some time in the afternoon (between 2pm and 6pm). I'm not sure exactly what happened but I always get the error The attempt to log on to the account associated with the task failed, therefore, the task did not run. The specific error is: 0x80070569: Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer. Verify that the task's Run-as name and password are valid and try again. It seems like most people with this error are saying that they need to make user "logon as a batch job". However, this option is greyed-out for me. I search for other places where users have similar problems but the solutions are not written in detail (some of them have something to do with GPO). I've only used the basic features of Windows Server and I have no clue how to get to the place they are referring to. Can someone please confirm whether "logon as a batch job" is indeed a solution and provide a detailed walkthrough on how to solve my problem? Thanks. p.s. someone suggested the website http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc755659(v=ws.10) I tried to followed the method for web server with domain. However, got stuck on the 6th step where it mentions Group Policy Object. I don't know where it is.

• windows 7 clock jumps back about every hour + internet disconnects

  I have the weirdest problem, for the last few days every hour or so (not exact) the clock jumps about back in jumps of 15 to 60 minutes and after some time the internet disconnects. i can reconnect the internet by unplugging and plugging back the network cable. This is the second time this problem happens to me, the first time was when I installed VirtualBox. whaen I removed it the problem was gone. This time I have no idea what triggered it, the only thing I installed about the time the problem started was iTunes update (10.5.1) I tried removing it but the problem remained. (also tried to remove other programs i installed day or 2 before and it also didn't help) also, this is not a VM and currently I don't have any VM software. any ideas..? UPDATE since the solution is in the comments i'll write it here - apparently the windows time service got broken, this is the fix: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc738995(WS.10).aspx (run "fix it" from IE browser only) UPDATE 2 The fix didn't work, about 2 hours passed and first the internet disconnected and then the clock jumped back... This probably means that the problem is not only in the clock

• EMERGENCY! Update Statement for critical mysql production database now running for 18 hours, need help.

  We have a table with 500 million rows. Unfortunately, one of the columns was int(11), which is a signed int, and it was an incrementing value that just rolled over the 2.1 billion magic number. This immediately caused downtime for about 10.000 users. We discussed many solutions, and decided that we could just roll back this value safely, by say, a billion. But we had to roll it back for every row. Here is what we did: update Table1 Set MessageId = case when MessageId < 1073741824 then 0 else MessageId - 1073741824 end; I tested this on a table with 10 million rows and it took 11 minutes. So I assumed the larger table would take 550 minutes, or 9 hours. This was going to be our biggest downtime in 3 years. (We're a startup). It's now going on 18 hours. What should we do? Please don't say what we should have done. I think we should have updated a few million rows at a time. Is there a way we can see progress? Could Mysql have hung? Using mysql 5.0.22. Thanks!

• Can't access apache from outsite my local network

  UPDATED: Now, when I type my external ip like xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8079, i can access xampp defaults page. But the strange is that when someone else from outside my network, try to access it using the same ip, it doesnt work. I Think it should, because its the external ip. I'm getting crazy. I have tried for hours to access xampp defaults page from outside my local network. My ISP blocks port 80 and 8080. So I changed apache to listen to port 8079 Listen 8079 My local computer ip is 10.1.1.2 I can access the webserver, from any computer on my local network when I type http://10.1.1.2:8079 I also oppended the port 8079 on my modem, as the image shows bellow. (I think i did it right) When apache is running on my computer, if I test the port 8079 at http://canyouseeme.org/ i get the message "Success: I can see your service on xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx on port (8079) Your ISP is not blocking port 8079" If apache is not running I get "Error: I could not see your service on xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx on port (8079) Reason: Connection refused". So, it's clear that the port 8079 is oppened. But when I type xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8079 on google chrome for example, I get Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8079 What can I do to solve this, to allow apache to server the pages? I don't know what else I shoud configure. Please, help me. Thanks.

I thought adding an update attribute to p:ajax would render the whole tabview but only the tabs and/or the tabs' content is re rendered. And weirdest of all, if I change update=":form:tabview" to update=":form" or update="@form", I only receive the tab's content in the ajax response - the component disappears from the page! My bean is viewscoped, I'm using Primefaces 3.5, JSF 2.1 and Tomcat 7. Any idea? Thanks.

• WPF - ListView within listView Scrollbar problem

  So I currently have a ListView "List A" who's items each have an expander control which contains another ListView "List B". The problem I am having is that sometimes List B grows so big that it extends beyond the range of List A's view area. List A's scroll bars do not pick up the fact that parts of List B are not being displayed. Is there a way to setup my xaml so that the scroll bars for List A will detect when the list inside the expander is longer then the viewing area of List A. • iPhone UIButton addTarget:action:forControlEvents: not working

  I see there are similar problems posted here, but none of the solutions work for me. Here goes: I have a UIButton instance inside a UIView frame, which is positioned within another UIView frame, which is positioned in the main window UIView. To wit: UIWindow --> UIView (searchView) --> UISearchBar (findField) --> UIView (prevButtonView) --> UIButton (prevButton) --> UIView (nextButtonView) --> UIButton (nextButton) So far, so good: everything is laid out as I want it. However, the buttons aren't accepting user input of any kind. I am using the UIButton method addTarget:action:forControlEvents: and to give you an idea of what I'm doing, here's my code for nextButton: nextButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; [nextButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"find_next_on.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [nextButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"find_next_off.png"] forState:UIControlStateDisabled]; [nextButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"find_next_off.png"] forState:UIControlStateHighlighted]; [nextButton addTarget:self action:@selector(nextResult:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; The method nextResult: never gets called, the state of the button doesn't change on touching, and there's not a damned thing I've been able to do to get it working. • Problem with waitable timers in Windows (timeSetEvent and CreateTimerQueueTimer)

  I need high-resolution (more accurate than 1 millisecond) timing in my application. The waitable timers in Windows are (or can be made) accurate to the millisecond, but if I need a precise periodicity of, say, 35.7142857141 milliseconds, even a waitable timer with a 36 ms period will drift out of sync quickly. My "solution" to this problem (in ironic quotes because it's not working quite right) is to use a series of one-shot timers where I use the expiration of each timer to call the next timer. Normally a process like this would be subject to cumulative error over time, but in each timer callback I check the current time (with System.Diagnostics.Stopwatch) and use this to calculate what the period of the next timer needs to be (so if a timer happens to expire a little late, the next timer will automagically have a shorter period to compensate). This works as expected, except that after maybe 10-15 seconds the timer system seems to get bogged down, and a few timer callbacks here and there arrive anywhere from 25 to 100 milliseconds late. After a couple of seconds the problem goes away and everything runs smoothly again for 10-15 seconds, and then the stuttering again. Since I'm using Stopwatch to set each timer period, I'm also using it to monitor the arrival times of each timer callback. During the smooth-running periods, most (maybe 95%) of the intervals are either 35 or 36 milliseconds, and no intervals are ever more than 5 milliseconds away from the expected 35.7142857143. During the "glitchy" stretches, the distribution of intervals is very nearly identical, except that a very small number are unusually large (a couple more than 60 ms and one or two longer than 100 ms during maybe a 3-second stretch). This stuttering is very noticeable, and it's what I'm trying to fix, if possible. For the high-resolution timer, I was using the extremely antique timeSetEvent() multimedia timer from winmm.dll. In pursuit of this problem, I switched to using CreateTimerQueueTimer (along with timeBeginPeriod to set the high-resolution), but I'm seeing the same problem with both timer mechanisms. I've tried experimenting with the various flags for CreateTimerQueueTimer which determine which thread the timer runs on, but the stuttering appears no matter what. Is this just a fundamental problem with using timers in this way (i.e. using each one-shot timer to call the next)? If so, do I have any alternatives? One thing I was considering was to determine how many consecutive 1-millisecond-accuracy ticks would keep my within some arbitrary precision limit before I need to reset the timer. So, for example, if I wanted a 35.71428 period, I could let a 36 ms timer elapse 15 times before it was off by 5 milliseconds, then kill it and start a new one.

• sqlite3 permission denied android

  Hi, I'm trying to access the database of the application I'm developping directly on my Nexus, but I get a "permission denied" when I tried to execute the "sqlite3" command. I also tried to start the adb in root mod, but again, permission denied on the device... I guess I will have to do that with the emulator but I have a lot of data to load and it would have been 10 times faster with the phone on Wifi than the emulator... This is for a .NeET 3.5 SP1 project. When I add the attribute to my web.config, I get the warning The 'optimizeCompilations' attribute is not declared. Does this work for the ASP.NET Development Server? How can I test that it's working?

• HTML5 localStorage restrictions and limits

  HTML5's localStorage databases are usually size-limited — standard sizes are 5 or 10 MB per domain. Can these limits be circumvented by subdomains (e.g. example.com, hack1.example.com and hack2.example.com all have their own 5 MB databases)? And is there anything in the standard that specifies whether parent domains can access their children's databases? I can't find anything, and I can see arguments for doing it either way, but it seems like there has to be some standard model.

  I'm connecting to a vendor-supplied web ASMX service and sending a set of data over the wire. My first attempt hit the 1 minute timeout that Visual Studio throws in by default in the app.config file when you add a service reference to a project. I increased it to 10 minutes, another timeout. 1 hour, another timeout: Error: System.TimeoutException: The request channel timed out while waiting for a reply after 00:59:59.6874880. Increase the timeout value passed to the call to Request or increase the SendTimeout value on the Binding. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout. ---> System.TimeoutE xception: The HTTP request to 'http://servername/servicename.asmx' has exceeded the allotted timeout of 01:00:00. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout. ---> System.Net.WebExcept ion: The operation has timed out at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() [... lengthly stacktrace follows] I contacted the vendor. They confirmed the call may take over an hour (don't ask, they are the bane of my existence.) I increased the timeout to 10 hours to be on the safe side. However the web service call continues to time out at 1 hour. Unfortunately every change takes at least an additional hour to test. Is there some internal limit that I'm bumping into - another timeout setting to be changed somewhere?
